Forest reach the Final of the Frank Moore Cup

On the evening of Thursday 24th April 2025 Newtown Forest secured a place in the Final of the 2024/25 Frank Moore Cup after a hard fought 3-2 win over Blackstaff FC.

Forest took the lead in the 43rd minute with a superb strike from 30 odd yards through Niall Kennedy. Blackstaff hit straight back in the 44th minute with an equaliser from their dangerous right winger Michael O’Neill.
The sides went in level 1-1 at Half-time.
Michael O’Neill cut inside and hit an unstoppable left foot strike to the top left corner in the 51st minute putting Blackstaff back in the lead. Forest were not for giving up and after a couple of changes from the bench managed to draw level through Darren O’Hara in the 70th minute.
The game looked like it was heading for extra-time. The light was fading, the floodlights powering on when Pearce McConkey latched onto a loose ball sending it goalwards past the goalkeeper for the on rushing Ryan O’Hara to tap into the empty net in the 84th minute.
Blackstaff went to three at the back in the closing minutes pushing for an equaliser, but Forest managed the game out to reach the Final.
