Weekend Preview: All three teams at Billy Neill
Newtown Forest return to the Billy Neill Centre this weekend with all three teams in action. With the first team looking to maintain their position at the top of the DAWFL and two more competitive fixtures for the seconds and thirds, it promises to be an exciting afternoon of football before players head back to the Northern Lights for post match refreshments.
There is plenty of excitement around the club this weekend as all three Newtown Forest sides are in action, and for the first time in quite a while every team will be playing at the Billy Neill Centre in Dundonald. It promises to be a busy afternoon of football before players and supporters head back to the familiar surroundings of the Northern Lights for some well earned post match refreshments.
First Team
The firsts return to league action in the Down Area Winter Football League Division 1, where they currently sit top of the table and will be looking to maintain that momentum. Forest have produced a strong run of results in recent weeks and know that every game becomes increasingly important as the season progresses. Cooke will provide a tough test however, and Forest will need another disciplined performance to continue their push at the top of the division.
Second Team
The seconds face Vision Athletic in the DAWFL Reserve Division 1. The reserve league is always competitive and Forest II will be hoping to build on recent performances and climb further up the table. Vision are traditionally well organised, so Forest will need to show patience and quality to take something from the game.
Third Team
The thirds continue their campaign in Belfast District League Division 4, hosting Belvoir. The squad has shown steady improvement throughout the season and will be aiming to turn positive performances into points. Belvoir are another capable side and the match should be an evenly contested encounter.
Final Word
With three matches at the same venue it should be a great afternoon for the club. Best of luck to all Newtown Forest teams this weekend, and afterwards players are encouraged to make their way back to the Northern Lights for some well earned refreshments and a chance to reflect on the day’s football.
